Hi there! We are so glad you are here at The Profit Property and interested in starting your own real estate venture!

We’re Damon and Shelby and we live in a small Kansas town and invest locally in single family rental homes. Our own real estate journey began in 2016 with the purchase of a small two bed, one bath fixer upper.

Since that first purchase, we’ve gone on to buy and manage several more rental properties over the years. With each property, we learned more about buying and managing a variety of properties. We now have a customizable criteria template we use for selecting the best properties for us based on predetermined specifications.

The tenant application and selection process is another area that we have learned by trial and error over the years. We have a real estate investing course that goes into detail about our step-by-step tenant application and selection process.

Our Story – The Profit Property

We really fell into real estate investing and property management by accident.

As I mentioned above, our real estate investing story began in 2016. Our first purchase was a small two bed, one bath house located in our hometown. We initially purchased the property because it neighbored our home and we thought we would eventually demolish the house to expand our lot or potentially build.

Long story short, we got the idea to invest some time and money into fixing the property up and renting it out. That property has been producing income for us for the past five plus years and gave us the confidence to pursue other rental property investments.

Over the years, we have purchased a number of homes to add to our rental property portfolio. We specialize in distressed properties but have also bought turn-key properties. We have also worked with many realtors as well as homeowners to buy properties outright that are for sale by owner.

Our passion and drive come from seeing a distressed property transformed into a productive family home once again and the impact that can have on communities. We also view each property as a long-term diversification investment that will pay dividends when we are ready to cash in and sell sometime down the road.
